Personal Insurance

Auto

A personal auto policy is insurance on your personal vehicle. It may include BI bodily injury, PIP personal injury protection, PD Property Damage, medical payment coverage, comprehensive, or collision coverage, roadside assistant, rental depending on your policy.

Coverage required by law

Personal Injury Protection (PIP)

By Florida law, any person injured in an automobile accident, regardless of which driver is at-fault, will seek payment for medical expenses and treatment from their own PIP Coverage. This is often referred to as the “Florida No-Fault Motor Vehicle Law.” PIP insurance pays the treatment costs related to your injuries from an accident (minus your deductible and any copayments). It may also cover some of the cost of lost wages, and the cost of helping the injured person(s) perform day-to-day duties that their injury prevents them from doing. PIP can even reimburse you for the cost of driving to your doctor visits.

Property Damage Liability (PD)

If an insured driver of your vehicle is at-fault for an accident, Property Damage Liability insurance covers the cost of other people’s property damage, subject to coverage limits, including other vehicles, buildings, signage, fencing, etc. Property Damage coverage does not pay for damages to your vehicle and/or your property.

Optional Auto Coverages

Bodily Injury Liability (BI)

If an insured driver of your vehicle is at-fault for an accident, Bodily Injury Liability protects you for personal liabilities to an injured person(s). BI can compensate an injured party for out-of-pocket medical expenses as well as other injury damages that you may be liable for (up to the coverage limit).

Comprehensive and Collision

If random acts of nature or other events beyond your control cause damage to your vehicle, Comprehensive covers the cost of that damage. Covered situations could include fire, flooding, vandalism, theft, or hitting an animal.

If an insured driver of your vehicle is involved in an impact with another vehicle and or object, this is a Collision Loss. Collision insurance covers the cost of damage to your vehicle (minus your deductible amount) regardless of fault.

Uninsured Motorist (UM)

If you are in a car accident that is not your fault and the at-fault driver is uninsured, or underinsured with respect to Bodily Injury liability, Uninsured Motorist coverage helps to pay for medical and other injury-related damages.

If an insured driver of your vehicle is involved in an impact with another vehicle and or object, this is a Collision Loss. Collision insurance covers the cost of damage to your vehicle (minus your deductible amount) regardless of fault.

Towing

Towing coverage provides reimbursement of up to certain amount for towing fees or road service costs after your vehicle has been disabled. There is a limit of tow or road service per incident. There might be limit on the number of claims per year.

Rental Car Reimbursement

If your covered vehicle is disabled due to a Collision or Comprehensive loss (not including mechanical failure, breakdown or maintenance issues that cause a vehicle to be disabled), the Rental Coverage option will reimburse the insured for expenses incurred by you in obtaining a temporary substitute vehicle up to the limits on the policy.

Watercraft

Watercraft insurance is an umbrella term for three types of insurance: boat insurance, yacht insurance, and personal watercraft insurance.
